Race Information
Safety
- Course familiarization is recommended.
- First Aid Station will be situated close to the swim stage/bike stage/run stage and finish area.
- Ensure that your bicycle is roadworthy. You are responsible for its roadworthiness.
- Transition Area officials will keep an eye on your possessions left in the Transition Area. However all possessions are left there at your own risk. You are therefore recommended not to bring any valuables with you.
Arrival & Registration
- On arrival at the race venue, proceed to the Registration Desk which locates at the Transition Area
- Proceed to have your race number marked on your left arm and left leg.
- Proceed to the relevant Transition Area to rack your bike and prepare your equipment for transition.
Race Briefing and Race Pack Collection
- All participants MUST attend the relevant pre-race briefing which will be held on 6 October (1830 to 2100), 9 October (1800 to 2100) and 10 October (1500 to 1800) at 2/F Jockey Club Theatre, Olympic House, Causeway Bay.
- Race briefing will be conducted in Cantonese and English. Please clarify with the race briefing officials on any queries.
- There will be No Race Briefing on the race day.

Olympic Distance (1500m):
The swim course consists of one rectangle lap and it starts in deep water at Disneyland Resort Pier (Western Concourse). You should swim along Waterfront Promenade to Olympic Turning Point (White Buoy) and then back to shore and exit the water via the landing ramp which is locate at Waterfront Promenade.
Sprint Distance (750m):
The swim course consists of one rectangle lap and it starts in deep water at Disneyland Resort Pier (Western Concourse). You should swim along Waterfront Promenade to Sprint Turning Point (Yellow Buoy) and then back to shore and exit the water via the landing ramp which is locate at Waterfront Promenade.
Fun Distance/Ultrakids (1993-1996)/Open Youth/Secondary School and Tertiary College Relay (250m):
The swim course consists of one rectangle lap and it starts in deep water at Disneyland Resort Pier (Western Concourse). You should swim along Waterfront Promenade to Fun Turning Point (Pink Buoy) and proceed in a clockwise direction and exit the water via the landing ramp which is locate at Waterfront Promenade.
Ultrakids (1998-2001)/Primary School Relay (150m):
The swim course consists of one triangle lap and it starts in deep water at landing ramp which is locate at Waterfront Promenade. You should swim out to sea then turn clockwise around the outside of two far Blue Buoys and exit the water via the landing ramp.
- The swim course will be held at Disneyland Resort Pier (Western Concourse).
- Athletes must wear the official swim cap during the race. Offenders will be penalized.
- The edge of the landing step will be indicated with small marker buoys. Please take care when passing between these buoys to avoid injury.
- Wetsuits will not be allowed, as the water will be warm enough.
- Swim suits covering any part of your arms or below your knees will not be allowed.
- Your swim time will be taken as you exit the water.
- The relay handover zone will be situated at Transition Area. The handover will be done by the transferring of the Timing Chip from the swimmer to the cyclist.
Transition Area
- Spectators, parents, coach, photographer and media are NOT allowed to access into transition area.
- Transition area is a restricted area, photos and video taking are NOT allowed.
- All competitors are required to put their race equipments in the transition area before the race start.
- Athletes will only be allowed to pick up the bike after the whole race finish and you must show your race number when you collect your bike.

Competitor should repeat the loop between Sunny Bay Road PTI turning point and Sunny Bay Road turning point 6 more times before head back the Transition Area, this mean 7 completed laps of 2 turning points section of the course.

Upon existing the Transition Area, you should head along Magic Road (northbound), and then turn left to Inspiration Lake and exit from Inspiration Lake Emergency Vehicle Gate to Sunny Bay Road (northbound), you should head Cheung Tung Road (Sham Shui Kok Drive) and then head back to Transition Area, this means 1 completed laps of Cheung Tung Road (Sham Shui Kok Drive) and Sunny Bay Road.
Remarks:
- Athletes are not allowed to overtake at the Sunny Bay Road turning point; offenders will be penalized.
- Your race number must be visible on your lower back throughout the bike ride. (except in the Elite waves)
- The bike course will be closed to all vehicles, except for emergency vehicles.
- Athletes have to fix their helmet before taking their bikes off the rack. Offenders will be penalized.
- Keep to the left side of the road except when overtaking, so that other road users and cyclists may overtake. Penalties will apply to any cyclists blocking other cyclists.
- Remain courteous to all other road users at all times.
- Do not cross the white line in the centre of the road. Offenders may be disqualified for dangerous riding.
- Ensure that the marshals at the Turning Points get your number. Shout it out to them if necessary.
- There will be no Drink Stations on the cycle course. You should carry sufficient fluids to meet your own hydration needs.
- Athletes have to rack the bike before removing the helmet. Offenders will be penalized.
- Athletes must wear helmet during the cycling part, offenders will be disqualified.
- Glass Containers, headphones and headsets are not permitted during the race.
- The relay handover zone will be situated at the Transition Area. Cyclists should rack their bike before proceeding to the handover zone. The handover will be done by the transferring of the Timing Chip from the cyclist to the runner.
- Athletes are not allowed overtaking at the yellow flag zone located inside the Inspiration Lake. Offenders will be penalized. The exact yellow flag zone will be explained during the race briefing.
- Officials will not marshal the drafting. However, it is athletes’ personal responsibility on the risk of drafting.
Run Stage
Elite/ Age Group
Olympic Distance (10km):
From the Transition Area, you should run to Waterfront Promenade and along it to the Magic Road footpath turning point. You should complete 3 times between Magic Road Footpath turning point and Sea Point Road turning point, then heading back for the Finish Line.
Sprint Distance (5km):
From the Transition Area, you should run to Waterfront Promenade and along it to the Magic Road footpath turning point, then heading back for the finish line.
Fun Distance and UltraKids
Fun Distance /Ultrakids (1993-1996)/Elite Youth Secondary School and Tertiary College Relay (2km):
From the Transition Area, you should run to Waterfront Promenade and along it to the Sea Point Road turning point, then heading back for the Finish Line.
Ultrakids (1994-1997)/Primary School Relay (1km):
From the Transition Area, you should run to Waterfront Promenade then heading back for the Finish Line.
- Your race number must be visible on your front throughout the run. Offenders will be penalized.
- All athletes must wear a running top or jersey that securely covers your chest and nipples throughout the run course. Offenders will be penalized.
- No allowed run without shoes on any part of the course.
- Drink and sports drink stations will be provided during the run stage.
Race Finish
- The Finish Line will be situated at the Third Hotel Site (between Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel)
- Please do not ask the timer of your split times or position. Full result will be published on the event web site. Web site: www.hongkongitu.com
- Drink and refreshment will be provided by the Finish Line. You should re-hydrate thoroughly.
Other Information
- Athletes can make use of the toilets facilities of the Transition Area, Disneyland Resort Pier (Western and Eastern Concourse) and Finish Area before and after race.
- Participants are responsible for following the correct race course.
- All participants must obey the instruction of race officials at all times. Failing to do so may result in disqualification.
- Organizer reserve the right to change the schedule or event details as necessary. This including moving the race forward. Participants are advised to arrive at the venue early.
Notes to Parents and Spectators
- Parents, coaches as well as spectators are not allowed to enter the transition area and run with any competitors during the race. If so, the competitors will be disqualified.
- Parents, coaches and spectators are allowed to access to the pier and finish line to watch the race.
- There will be assigned spectator areas for parents, coaches and spectators. Please follow the instruction of race officials.
Carpark Arrangement
Parking spaces are available at Hong Kong Disneyland Carpark located at the Fantasy Road. The Operation hour is from 5:00am to 8:00pm. Charges at HK$120 for the whole day parking, and you are recommended to take the official transport to the race venue.
How to use your Champion Chip
- The Champion Chip will be distributed on the pre-race briefing; athletes must bear in mind to bring it on race day morning. No Chip No Time.
- Athlete need to pay HK$100 (cash) for chip deposit when collecting your Champion Chip.
- Chip are attached to an ankle with the strap provide.
- Do not attached it too firmly because your ankles will swell up during the event.
- The Central tube of the chip should be pointing downwards.
- Chip must return to Champion Chip Counter at the Finish Line and deposit HK$100 will be return at the same time. The penalty of lost or not returning the chip to HKTriA office before 23 October 2009 will be HK$100.
